In a crowded field full of surprise sequels and new consoles, G4 revealed on last night’s X-Play, television’s most watched video game program, their annual list of the coveted “X-Play Best of E3 Awards,” giving Irrational Game’s BioShock Infinite the top honors with Game of Show. Twenty accolades were handed out covering a range of categories celebrating the top news from this year’s 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the gaming industry’s biggest event of the year.
“E3 blew it out this year, with big news about both hardware and software. It was hard to make an impression with so many heavy hitters taking the field, but a few games managed to rise above the noise and really make an impression,” said Morgan Webb, host of G4’s X-Play. “The BioShock: Infinite screening was the hottest ticket at E3 and made a splash not only for its long and robust demo but for its stunning graphic fidelity and unique art direction.”
Sony was also a big winner with the upcoming sequel to its popular Uncharted franchise, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, taking both the Best Action/Adventure award and Best Playstation 3 Game award. Sony also nabbed the Best Multiplayer award for the upcoming futuristic flight simulator/third person shooter Starhawk and the Best New Hardware award for its upcoming portable console, the Playstation Vita.
Below is the full “X-Play Best of E3 Awards” list with all winners and runner-ups. For more information and to check out all of G4tv.com’s 2011 E3 Expo coverage, please visit http://www.g4tv.com/e3-2011/. X-Play airs weeknights at 6:30 PM ET on G4.
