How to Make an Impact When Distributing a Press Release
0 Comments | Posted by kpolacek in How to Distribute a Press Release, How to Get Media Attention
You’ve written a press release, now what? Press release distribution is not as easy as it may seem. While you may have certain reporters and news organizations in mind, it is also a good idea to contact a press release distribution service to help reach out to more of the right people.
As for sending the release, most people think cutting and pasting the release into an email is ok, but that just won’t cut it. The most effective way to get attention of a producer or reporter is to write a two or three sentence pitch. The pitch is just a simplified version of the event, product or service mentioned in your release. You want to keep it quick and to the point, to capture the person’s attention and leave them wanting to read more. After the pitch include a link to the release, if it is posted online. If not, include a full version of the release as an attachment or pasted at the bottom of the email.
While there is no exact science to distributing a press release, this may help you get the coverage you’re looking to achieve for your event, product or service.
