Giving Thanks to Those Who Get Your Press Release

In this age of instant information, our communication habits are often reduced to a blanket email – a message devoid of personality. By hitting the SEND key, your press release might reach hundreds of distant newsrooms, but what good is your message if it lacks your personal touch?
It doesn’t require much; a simple salutation will do:
“Hi, Karen, I enjoyed your article on home foreclosures last Monday. Would you take a look at my enclosed press release on the realtor we represent? I think he’d make a great interview for today’s newly-released numbers.”
Rather than blasting a plain press release to a gaggle of reporters, you might find you’ll garner more responses by sending an individual pitch. It doesn’t always get results. But you might find your personal note of thanks will bring you closer to those you email.
