Businesses Should Target their Audience and not Inundate with PR Email

We just read about a survey conducted by a PR manager and national newspaper journalist Iain Fleming to determine which PR distribution methods work and which don’t.
He heard from a small sample of British journalists (granted not US based but the UK and America is not all that different in this respect) and found that despite their growing reliance on PR people to find news, they disliked the industry because they are flooded with emails–most of which don’t apply to them.
If you’re looking to hire a PR firm, go with one like The Publicity Agency which has offices in Tampa, LA and Chicago and knows how to pitch a story better than anyone else because they target the reporters and editors and make sure only people interested in what they’re offering receive their emails. They’ve established credibility with journalists.
If you’re doing it yourself, choose a press release distribution service like PRNewsChannel, developed and run by former journalists. They will work with you to develop your message and will only send your release to reporters who want to receive your message. If services say they will send your release to everyone on their list run as fast as you can. You don’t want a press release distribution company like that. Trust us, no journalists worth a darn is reading any of their emails.
