SAN FRANCISCO / While ethnicity, nationality and often religion are human aspects determined at the time of birth, these markers of identity can change from lifetime to lifetime, according to Walter Semkiw, MD of the Institute for the Integration of Science, Intuition and Spirit (IISIS). He says that these observations can positively influence world peace through the recognition that there are transitions regarding one's religious and ethnic affiliations.
IISIS finds that facial features can remain consistent across lifetimes. Take James Leininger, whose reincarnation case was featured earlier this year on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) program, 'Miracle Detectives.' The Leininger case, researched by Bruce and Andrea Leininger, has brought mass awareness to objective evidence of reincarnation. This case involves the Leininger's son, James, who as a child had spontaneous memories of being a World War II fighter pilot who died in action. His memories were historically validated. New images have recently been uncovered in the case, says Semkiw.
"These new Leininger images, featured on the IISIS website, are very important, as this is a very publicized and accepted case which now shows that facial features do indeed stay the same from lifetime to lifetime," notes Semkiw. "This observation makes reincarnation research much more objective. Indeed, new cases coming to light have allowed several principles of reincarnation to be established."
One's body type, facial architecture and physical habits, passions and talents often carry over across incarnations, as exhibited in research conducted by the late Ian Stevenson, M.D. A psychiatrist at the University of Virginia, Stevenson handled some 3,000 cases involving children who could spontaneously recall their past lives in vivid detail.
Semkiw researched the Anne Frank-Barbro Karlen reincarnation case, which argues that Frank became Karlen following the girl's death in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945. As a young child in Sweden, Barbro told her parents that her name was not Barbro, but Anne Frank. Her parents had never heard the name since 'Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl' had not yet been translated or published in Swedish. In addition to having consistent facial features, Barbro was a childhood writing prodigy who had her first book published at age 12. Anne Frank became the most famous victim of the Holocaust because she too was a gifted writer in her adolescence. Frank was persecuted as a Jew, while Barbro was born into a Christian family. Semkiw states that if it were known that one could be Jewish in one lifetime and Christian in another, the Holocaust could never have happened.
"We applaud the Leininger family for their dedicated efforts in bringing their research to light," says Semkiw. "IISIS is a leading research institute on evidence of reincarnation, and our next challenge will be to raise funding in order to translate cases into multiple languages."
Semkiw contends that the reincarnation cases featured on the IISIS website, in aggregate, do constitute proof of reincarnation. Jim Tucker, M.D., who has taken over for Dr. Stevenson at the University of Virginia, has also publicly stated that there is now sufficient evidence to conclude that reincarnation exists. IISIS will continue to promote evidence of reincarnation, which can powerfully transform the world in a positive way, the Institute argues.
About IISIS: IISIS was founded to conduct research on reincarnation, past-life regression, psychic phenomenon and soul evolution, with a focus on objective evidence of reincarnation. Since 2000, multiple independently researched reincarnation cases have emerged, which demonstrate that people can have the same facial features, personality traits, talents and passions from one incarnation to another. These observations allow reincarnation to be researched much more objectively than in the past. Dr. Semkiw will be presenting at the academic Society for Scientific Exploration, June 9 through 11, 2011, in Boulder, Colorado.
