HOLLYWOOD, Calif. / Even for an actor like Charlie Sheen who plays bad boy characters, there's a breaking point and the Charlie Sheen rant on the radio was it.
"Charlie Sheen's professional and personal lives have now morphed and the TV show, its creators, its producers and its stars have become the targets of Sheen's wrath," says Glenn Selig, a leading crisis management PR expert who represents entertainers, businesses and politicians through crises. "Up until this point it was a tale of two separate lives and how his personal life might impact his career."
Selig says Sheen has been able to withstand scandal because the characters he plays on TV are similar to his real real life and the crazy lifestyle he leads.
"He is not playing a priest or starring in a modern day version of 'My Three Sons," says Selig. "'Two and a Half Men' is not a show for kids. It's all about sex and scandalous behavior which clearly was not a stretch role. It, in many ways, mirrored his life and lifestyle."

However, says Selig, the Charlie Sheen rant is a sign to the producers, he can't keep his two world's separate.
As for the public, Selig sees it this way: Charlie Sheen's bosses are uncomfortable with Charlie Sheen now and he believes that is how the public is reacting, too.
Charlie Sheen rant
"Charlie Sheen is basically saying 'the whole world is wrong, I am amazing, I am better than everyone else and who needs them I certainly don't. Hey I've even outsmarted the fans--who needs anyone because I've got everything figured out' and that type of over-the-top arrogant demeanor does not project well to anyone and no one wants to be associated with it. He seems like he's gone off the deep end or is clearly on drugs," says Selig.
Selig says because most of Charlie Sheen's atrocious behavior could be attributed to an addiction problem, and because he has not said anything YET that is completely unforgiveable, he can bounce back from it if he sought help and apologized.
Selig says he's gotten close by calling the shows producer by his Hebrew name during the rant on the radio. Sheen is already having to answer whether he's anti-Semitic.
"If he continues down this path it's no longer about his acting or his show. It's waiting to see when he will completely cross the line and implode. This is like a car chase for the media. They can't wait to show the train wreck.
"Charlie Sheen has a problem shooting his mouth off and I'd tell him he needs to be very careful because he's dangerously close to becoming another Mel Gibson. I hope he gets help."
And the crisis management PR help, too.
