CHICAGO and BERKELEY, Calif. / Datalogics, Incorporated, the premier source for Adobe PDF developer technologies, and Tech Soft 3D (TS3D), the leading provider of 3D component technology to the engineering software industry, have formed a strategic partnership to license the Adobe PDF Library SDK to engineering software developers. Under the terms of the agreement, Datalogics will provide extended platform support, porting services, and core API maintenance and enhancements to TS3D; in turn, TS3D will provide licensing, support and engineering-focused enhancements to its customers, including support for native 3D PDF data types (PRC and U3D).
The Adobe PDF Library is a software developer kit (SDK) developed by Adobe Systems that allows third-party developers to support the PDF format within their own applications. Developers can build powerful Adobe PDF solutions in desktop environments as well as a wide range of server platforms, using the same core technology within the Adobe family of Acrobat products.
TS3D recently announced an agreement with Adobe Systems, to assume development of the 3D PDF technologies used within the Acrobat product range from Adobe. These 3D technologies will be offered as an extension to the PDF Library SDK; making the combined solution the perfect choice for engineering applications wanting to publish data-rich 3D PDF files.
"We’re very happy to partner with Datalogics," notes Tech Soft 3D CEO, Ron Fritz. "They are well-respected experts in PDF, and have extensive experience working with the Adobe PDF Library specifically. The enhancements they’ve added, such as the .NET language interface, and the additional platforms they’ve ported, such as the 64-bit platforms, will be of great interest to our engineering software customers and prospects."
Kevin McNeill, President of Datalogics, adds, "We believe this partnership benefits both Tech Soft 3D customers and Datalogics customers. Tech Soft 3D can leverage our PDF expertise and the years of effort we've poured into refining and enhancing the core PDF toolkit, and as a result can spend more time adapting the API to the specific needs of the engineering software marketplace. Datalogics, in turn, will have increased exposure to this technically-demanding marketplace; which we expect will drive further optimizations and performance improvements from which all of our customers will benefit."
The Adobe PDF Library is available on a wide variety of platforms, including Windows, MacOS, Linux, AIX, HPUX, Solaris SPARC and Solaris x86. In addition to 32-bit availability, native 64-bit ports are also available on most platforms. The Adobe PDF Library is available directly from Tech Soft 3D for engineering software customers and from Datalogics elsewhere.
