CHICAGO / In what is expected to be Rod Blagojevich's final radio show before the start of his trial on corruption charges, the former Illinois governor took aim at "sneaky" prosecutors who've spent more than a year trying to destroy him.
"My government is doing something very wrong to me and my family," Blagojevich said on WLS-AM this afternoon. "That soon will be over when we begin (the trial) on Thursday."
Blagojevich said while no tax dollars have been used for his defense because it is campaign money that is financing it, he accused the government of wasting millions of dollars in taxpayer money to prosecute him.
"I'm telling you now I am an honest man. The government will not be able to show that I took one... penny that I wasn't entitled to," Blagojevich said. "Whether you voted for me or not... you should know I did not do these things and I am an honest man."
Since his arrest Dec. 2008, Blagojevich has done everything but keep a low profile. He has done more than a hundred radio, TV and print interviews since being arrested and forced from office. He has also written his memoirs, THE GOVERNOR. He even recently competed in the Donald Trump reality show CELEBRITY APPRENTICE on NBC.
"I am an innocent man and I can't wait to get it on Thursday!"
