Chicago, Ill. and New Orleans, La. / Jumping into the city of New Orleans, ready to get their hands dirty and create some movie magic is the latest Cliff Dorfman film project, being represented by the national law firm, Edelson McGuire and managing partner Jay Edelson.
The name of the movie and set location is being kept secret--for now. But it is set to start filming in March.
It's one of many eagerly anticipated pieces of cinema associated with a stellar team of celebrity stars, movie executives and accompanying entourage who've brought some of the magic of Tinsel Town to The Big Easy.
Lightwave Entertainment, a local film production company, is the local liaison while the California crew is making its home temporarily in New Orleans. And it's known not only for its movie making prowess but for its environmentally conscious ways. And this new team of California and Louisiana filmmakers pledges to use all available environmentally “green” technologies at their disposal to limit waste at every level.
"What an honor to know and respect Lightwave Entertainment for all the jobs and expertise they bring to New Orleans," says Edelson. "After being an Executive Producer on Remnants, I just knew after seeing the firm's CEO, Oak Porcelli, in action, I had to rep him."
The filmmaking team has also opened its arms to welcome in young students, whose work has been supervised and facilitated by producers at Lightwave Entertainment through the making of their documentary film, "Murder Through The Eyes of A Child." Hollywood is now lending a hand to the young people of New Orleans by inviting the 10 contributing student documentarians to “shadow” their professional film crew counterparts while this yet untitled feature film is made before their very eyes.
"The excitement of the children is off the charts. Knowing that there is a great world of excitement waiting for them after they graduate high school is real gift from which the students and the community as a whole can both benefit," says Porcelli. "As the sour economy struggles to grow, we are pleased to be part of the vanguard of recovery in our part of America and for our future artists, advocates, and leaders such as these fine young boys and girls."
Film production in Louisiana generated $500-million dollars for the local economy in 2009.
The revenues for Louisiana and New Orleans grow with each successive year. Using 100% local infrastructure and local workers, Lightwave Entertainment has made three feature films in the past six months.
"It is our privilege to live and work in this city. It is our social responsibility to give back everything we can to the city that always gives us so much. Our company’s success is connected to the rejuvenation of New Orleans. We hope to do our just share to heal our community, create jobs, reduce environmental costs while advancing the current generation and building the next generation of Louisiana filmmakers. It’s a big job, but we are up to it," says Porcelli.
