San Francisco, Calif. / Apple announces the release of its highly-anticipated iPad, a tablet device said to revolutionize the way people use home technology.
At just an inch thick, the iPad features a 9.7-inch display with multi-touch sensors.
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs demonstrated to a Yerba Buena Center audience how to use the sensors -- called "apps" in Apple world -- to perform tasks, including locating nearby restaurants and accessing Facebook.
The iPad boasts ten hours of battery life, according to Jobs.
"I can take a flight from San Francisco to Tokyo and watch video the whole way on one charge," says Jobs.
