DoctorsPartner Helps Two Fort Myers Physician Offices Launch Electronic Medical Records System

The EMR software company installs Sushoo health information exchange software at two Southwest Florida medical facilities.

The Melbourne-based company is the creator of Sushoo, a health information exchange that sends medical information electronically between medical offices and facilities.

“We are happy to have the two Fort Myers medical offices joining the Sushoo network,” says Naveen Venkatachalam, founder of DoctorsPartner.”Those offices will now be able to securely send data to physicians across the state and nation.”

Sushoo is the first independent health information exchange in the United States. It allows physicians and nurses to send lab requests, charts and other medical records via the internet. Medical professionals who receive the electronic records do not have to be a Sushoo client to access the information.

“The system is extremely easy to use,” says Venkatachalam. “All information is encrypted. The sending and receiving physicians are the only ones who will be able to access the medical records.”

As part of the HITECH Act signed by President Barack Obama, all medical facilities must switch to an electronic medical record system by the year 2014. The government is offering $20 billion in assistance to help medical facilities get their EMR systems up and running. DoctorsPartner is leading the way, helping medical offices across the country make the switch.

“We are making it easy and cost effective for physicians and medical facilities to make the EMR switch now,” says Venkatachalam. “Several medical facilities are already successful using the system and we are receiving new inquiries every day.”
