(PRNewsChannel) / Largo, Fla. – The Palms of Largo celebrates a new accolade with the Florida Recreation and Parks Association Annual Corporate Support Award. The award is given to an entity which has made significant and consistent contributions to the parks, recreation and leisure services field.
“This award is such an honor to receive because it represents our commitment to the community,” says Avi Elias, executive director of The Palms of Largo. “We strive to take care of each of our residents and the communities which they came to us from and this award shows our passion for doing just that.”
The Largo Volunteer Corps Advisory Board (VCAB) nominated The Palms of Largo for the Annual Corporate Support Award with a unanimous vote by its board of directors.
The VCAB recognized The Palms of Largo for its outstanding support to the board over the past seven years. Nearly $50,000 of donated time, money and facilities have been given to the board by The Palms of Largo since 2001.
“In the past seven years, we’ve done more than 2,000 good deeds and visitations for needy and elderly persons that, without the assistance and support of the Palms of Largo, would otherwise have gone ignored,” says C. Warren Ankerberg, chairman of the Largo Volunteers Corps Advisory Board.
The VCAB manages Largo’s Volunteer Day of Good Deeds by bringing together more than 300 community volunteers every year to visit the elderly and perform good deeds for the needy.
The Palms of Largo is a major sponsor of this event, providing a monetary contribution along with a breakfast for the volunteers prior to the main event of doing good deeds.
