(PRNewsChannel) / Houston, Texas / All Solid Waste Management collection services (garbage, heavy trash, curbside recycling, yard trimmings) will be suspended on Friday, September 12, 2008. “We are requesting residents to remove all garbage cans and recycling bins from the curb this evening and secure them in your garage or tie them down…they can be dangerous with hurricane-force winds,” said Harry J. Hayes, Solid Waste Management Department Director. Collection services will resume as soon as weather conditions allow.
The Solid Waste Management Department will close all of its public facilities on Friday and this weekend. Therefore, the Westpark Recycling Center, all Neighborhood Depositories and the Environmental Service Centers will be closed beginning Friday, September 12, 2008 due to the potential for severe weather over the weekend.
Only designated essential city employees are to report to work for Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13. All non-essential city employees should remain at home as their designated temporary work location. City employees should monitor the radio and TV stations and contact their respective departments for further guidance.
