(PRNewsChannel) / Redondo Beach, Calif. - Sherrie Keys always does things in a big way. With the launch of Chubby Girl Records, Gospel songstress Sherrie Maria Keys brings a fresh, relevant sound to the soul of gospel music. Sherrie Keys has launched a new imprint called Chubby Girl Records, a boutique Gospel music label focused on impacting the world for Christ with cutting-edge artistry.
Keys says that praise and worship are the passion of her label and that music ministry takes precedence over image-conscious trends. “Our calling is higher than Gospel music. Our mission is to exalt Christ, to magnify Him with such artistry that listeners look beyond our externals to experience Christ alone.”
Under the Chubby Girl Media flagship, is an entertainment division focused on providing soul edifying music and Christian entertainment. To that end, Sherrie Keys aims to provide urban influenced gospel entertainment including broadcast programming, music, film, and book publishing, the music label says.
Keys believes gospel music marketing offers a compelling and unique opportunity to positively influence plus-size consumers. A Gospel music collaboration with a fashion-forward, plus-size artist represents both a new retail offering for Christian music lovers and a breakthrough business model for the plus-size industry.
For Sherrie Keys, distribution means more than simply shipping a load of CDs to retailers. It means obtaining rack space for innovative plus-size artists with the right kind of “buzz” for the right kind of customer. Keys, a gifted singer in her own right, will be the first gospel recording artist on the label’s roster, the company says.
According to a Purdue University study, 65% of churchgoers are in the overweight or obese category. Gospel music lovers are an influential demographic with considerable purchasing power.
“Music is an integral part of pop culture. The message to plus-size consumers should be that living a life with purpose can be achieved at any size. Chubby Girl Records does not advocate obesity as a healthy lifestyle choice. We advocate a positive self-image as the foundation to healthy, holistic living. Happiness can be achieved at any size … That’s good gospel, chubby-style. That’s real good news,” Keys says.
About Sherrie Keys: Sherrie Keys is a contemporary gospel recording artist who captivates audiences with her elegant, hauntingly beautiful voice. Armed with a warm spirit, an infectious smile, a generous heart and a passion for missions outreach, Sherrie Keys' abundant gifts serve as a platform for ministry beyond music. When asked why she's joined a robust gospel music arena, Keys replies: "America doesn't need another gospel singer. But there are places all over the world mired in poverty, death, despair and disease that could use a song. 1.2 billion people living in extreme poverty globally need a song. A song can be a catalyst for change. A song can uplift a nation."
