(PRNewsChannel) / Tampa, Fla. – With a record number of Bay area families struggling to meet mortgage payments, and many of them forced out of their homes, local builder All State Homes is donating an empty lot to Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County to help build a home for a family in need, the company announced today.
“This is just something we felt was right in our heart to do,” says Ivy Norwood from All State Homes. “At a time when families are hurting we wanted to help a family struggling to make it.”
With one of the biggest housing crises facing Florida families, All State Homes will work with Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County to make sure the property directly helps a deserving family in Hillsborough County.
The company originally bought the property to build on it, but recently decided to give it back to the community and continue on its history of charitable contributions.
The land, located at 3612 N. 55th Street, is in the Grant Park area of Tampa. The empty lot is valued at $26,400 by the property appraiser.
Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County is a non-profit organization that builds homes with volunteers and qualified families from all walks of life.
“Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County is grateful to All State Homes for their generous donation of land,” says Ralph Jackson, Executive Director of Habitat Humanity of Hillsborough County. “Their valued support has enabled Habitat Hillsborough to provide a hand up, not a hand out, to qualified families in Hillsborough County.”
Construction of the new home will take place in October. Mayor Pam Iorio will attend the blitz build along with members of All State Homes, who will volunteeer their services throughout the building process.
“We are thrilled to take this donation to the next level - not just providing the land but getting our hands dirty and bringing in the attention of the mayor to truly help a family in need,” Norwood says.
