American Company in China Offers to Aid Quake Victims

Ruth Lycke of China Connection says her foundation will collect money to benefit China quake survivors; issues challenge to other American companies in China.

(PRNewsChannel) / Beijing, China – The China Connection Foundation, an American company that coordinates treatment for foreigners who’ve come here to receive medical care, announced today that it is collecting donations on behalf of quake victims.

“Being in China and having an organization without a huge bureaucracy assures we can get it directly to those here in China without going through massive and complicated systems,” says Ruth Lycke, president of China Connection.

Though Lycke is in Beijing, she says she felt the earthquake.  And, like the rest of the world, she says she is watching the Chinese people search for survivors and try to recover from the devastation. 

“I have seen how the hospitals in Tianjin have mobilized and are sending medical supplies, tents, water, doctors and nurses to the affected area,” says Lycke.  “In my office building they broadcast a message that they are raising funds for more supplies and equipment and I was forced to ask myself what am I doing to help?”

Lycke says she’s challenging other businesses operating in China to collect funds and use those funds to help quake victims and their families. 

“Over 40,000 have lost their lives, nearly 250,000 injured, over 5 million displaced and the number is growing,” says Lycke.
