(PRNewsChannel) / Shelby Township, Mich.– There’s fresh. And there’s really fresh. A new eatery in Shelby Township takes freshness to the extreme.
Welcome to Maceri’s Soup & Scoop, where the soup is made fresh daily with produce from across the country and around the world. It is received from the family’s warehouse in
Detroit’s Eastern Market. With 125 varieties of soups, that’s a lot produce. The “For Real Vegetable” soup alone uses 25 kinds of vegetables.
“Homemade soups made from the finest produce bring the best results,” says Lori Maceri, who owns the store along with her husband, Anthony, a produce industry veteran for over 40 years.
Anthony learned the ropes from his dad, Sam Maceri, known as “Detroit’s Produce King.” Having this experience he certainly knows how to pick the best produce. “That’s a critical job since so much of what we do depends on it,” says Lori.
“We make the Italian ice right at the store,” says Lori, “it just can’t be any fresher.”
Soup & Scoop offers up to 40 flavors of Ashby’s Sterling Ice Cream, which uses only the finest ingredients and lots of them.
To go along with the soup, there is a wide variety of pitas and subs made with Original Pita’s famous house dressing, the originator of the pita sandwich in Metro Detroit since 1986.
Most people would never think of combining soups and ice cream into one eatery. But Lori says that’s part of what makes her restaurant unique.
“Who would have thought a soup and ice cream shop would work,” says Lori. “But we’re proof that it does.”
