Governor Bill Richardson Announces 'Spoken Word' to be Filmed in New Mexico

The production will be shot in and around Santa Fe from March 24 through April 25 and expects to hire approximately 100 New Mexico crew members and over 500 actors.

(PRNewsChannel) / Santa Fe, New Mexico - Governor Bill Richardson announced today that the feature film, Spoken Word, will be filmed in Santa Fe. The film, set in Chimayo, will star Kuno Becker (Goal, From Mexico with Love, Nomad), Ruben Blades (Once Upon a Time in Mexico, All the Pretty Horses, Predator 2, The Milagro Beanfield War), and Miguel Sandoval (Bottle Shock, Nine Lives, Medium).

Santa Fe-based Luminaria Films, Karen Koch and Bill Conway will produce, with Victor Nunez (Ulee’s Gold, Ruby in Paradise) directing.

“Spoken Word, inspired by the work of local poet Joe Ray Sandoval, will uncover the heart and soul of the New Mexico we cherish,” said Koch.

Spoken Word tells the story of a touring spoken word artist who returns to Chimayo to be with his dying father. The production will be shot in and around Santa Fe from March 24 through April 25 and expects to hire approximately 100 New Mexico crew members and over 500 actors, including principal and background talent.

“We’re thrilled that this talented New Mexico producing team is bringing such a quintessential New Mexican story to the state. We hope that this will serve as an inspiration to the New Mexico film community,” said Lisa Strout, director of the New Mexico Film Office.

Since Richardson took office, over 90 major feature film and television projects have shot in the state, adding over $1.5 billion dollars to New Mexico’s economy.
