(PRNewsChannel) / Marshalltown, Iowa - Receiving acupuncture treatment in China to help boost a woman's ability to become pregnant is not only less expensive, but also may be more effective than receiving that same treatment in the United States, according to a company that arranges for patients to receive medical treatment in China.
A new scientific review, published today in the British Medical Journal, shows that sticking needles in women receiving in vitro Fertilization (IVF) may help women increase their odds of conceiving if done right before or after embryos are placed in the womb.
"In vitro fertilation is expensive and if acupuncture can increase the odds of success then it makes sense to have that treatment intensified," says Ruth Lycke of the ChinaConnection.cc. "In China they have world class treatments that can be done on as an inpatient for a fraction of what it would cost for as an outpatient in America."
Acupuncture, which originated in China and is associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine, involves placing very thin needles at specific points on the body to control pain and reduce stress, may in the case of fertility treatment, increase blood flow to the uterus and relax the cervix.
Lycke points out that IVF treatments and acupuncture are not covered by insurance.
Lycke's company arranges everything for women and their families who want to travel to China for medical care.
"People don't think about China when they need a procedure," says Lycke. "But the care offered there is excellent and even with travel is still a fraction of the cost of what it costs in the U.S."
In the case of acupuncture, her company would arrange for the hospital, doctors and the acupuncture specialist in China and guide patients through the process and can even be of help arranging for financing.
Lycke herself received treatment in China to make a full recovery after a stroke. Because of that experience she created a company so she can help others receive medical care in China.
About China Connection: China Connection is about providing compassion, care and concern. It developed from the personal experience of its CEO, Ruth Lycke, who survived a stroke and went to China to complete her treatment. Now she seeks to educate Americans about the top medical treatments available in China-usually at a fraction of what the cost would be in the U.S.
