(PRNewsChannel) / Indianapolis, Indiana – It may not be the PGA, but with prestige and bragging rights on the line, cities and towns in the U.S. and Canada hope to land a slice of what is a first-of-its-kind golf tour for amateurs.
The Warrior Custom Golf Amateur Tour is organized by SIAGA, the Super International Amateur Golf Association. It will be comprised of amateur golfers throughout North America (and eventually worldwide) who are SIAGA members. They will compete for prestige and prizes on the Warrior Custom Golf Amateur Tour in SIAGA tournaments to be held at local, area, regional, national and international levels.
Cities and towns selected to host tournaments—and even the choice of golf courses—are driven by SIAGA members who join the Tour. Tournaments will be brought to SIAGA player members, rather than the traditional method of signing up for a pre-determined tournament location.
“We want to make this as much fun and convenient as possible for all concerned,” says Kirk Makl, founder of SIAGA. “SIAGA is going to be huge so structuring the tournaments around players is more efficient for golf courses and, of course, SIAGA member players.”
How It Works
Each SIAGA member will be guaranteed to play in a local tournament comprised of 128 players. The top 12 players from each Local tournament based on the USGA/RCGA handicap systems will advance to the next tournament level and so on (see www.SIAGA.org for details).
The tournaments are member driven. As soon as there are a required number of 128 SIAGA members to fill a local tournament within a 120 mile perimeter, members will be notified of the date and golf course for their local tournament. For every new 128 SIAGA members, an additional local tournament will be scheduled the vicinity.
“We’re encouraging golfers to sign up as soon as possible,” says Makl, “that will maximize the notice players get and clinch locations sooner rather than later.”
SIAGA is teaming with Warrior Custom Golf to create a first-ever golf tour of this scope for all amateurs.
“This is a chance for all amateur golfers to feel the same exhilaration and excitement as the pros regardless of their handicap,” says Makl. “This brings recreational golf to a whole new level.”
All tournaments are based on the USGA and RCGA handicap systems so everyone has an equal chance of winning.
Only SIAGA members will be allowed to compete. Membership is $185, and that includes all competition greens fees, cart fees and banquets. New SIAGA members receive a Warrior custom-built 385CC Titanium “driver” valued at $200.
In addition, all visitors to www.SIAGA.org will receive a Warrior custom-built mallet putter, valued at $150, just for checking out the Web site and learning about SIAGA.
The final cut off for SIAGA memberships for the 2008 Warrior Custom Golf Amateur Tour will be May 31, 2008.
Tournaments will start in the Sunbelt in April, 2008 and move northward. Local tournaments will be completed by the end of June, 2008; Area tournaments will be scheduled in July and August; Regional tournaments will be scheduled for September; National tournaments for October and the International Tournament will be scheduled for November, 2008.
