You might not know the name, but you certainly have seen his work.  He's the man behind the scenes who sweats it out at the Academy Awards®.  He calls for music when celebs keep talking and cuts off stars who push the envelope.  And also the one who announced to the world that Jon Stewart will host the 80th Academy Awards® telecast. 

Now Cates is coming to Tampa to speak to Hillel School of Tampa students and their parents at two separate events.

Cates is also making himself available for media interviews.

Cates has produced the Oscars for the past 13 years.  This year will be his 14th production. 

Cates is revered in Hollywood as one of the best producers around.

He’s coming to Tampa to give the inside scoop of what it’s like producing a show in front of the world, and in front of an audience full of some of Hollywood’s – and history’s – most accomplished celebrities.

He's the keynote speaker for "Behind the Scenes of the Academy Awards®," a Hillel School of Tampa fundraiser to be held Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

He'll be speaking to children at the private day school on Friday, November 16th between 1:45pm and 3:45pm.

About the Hillel School:  The funds raised from this event will help to support the education of young children in the Tampa area. The Hillel School of Tampa is a private day school located in the Carrollwood area of Tampa, Florida. The school currently enrolls approximately 200 students in Transitional Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, and provides an excellent academic education, enhanced by the traditions of the Jewish culture. The school seeks a balanced, well-rounded education of the whole child and creates a caring, stimulating and challenging educational environment in which self-confidence, critical thinking, and creative problem solving can be cultivated.
