GTRA.org - December 12, 2008
(PRNewsChannel) / Harrisburg, Pa. / Ron Ross, Senior Computer Scientist at NIST and Scott Bernard, Deputy, Chief Information Officer, FRA, Department of Transportation, announced today at the GTRA Symposium that new guidance documents related to Federal Enterprise Architecture Security and Privacy Profile (FEA SPP) will soon be released to provide further clarity and direction to CXOs. Ross and Bernard spoke at the Symposium on FEA SPP updates in the government’s efforts to enhance Enterprise Architecture strategies and provide guidance on privacy and security standards for an agency to follow from a technical and governance perspective.
Ross and Bernard recognized that Chief Architects and Chief Information Security Officers are realizing they must work more closely together as well as working with the Privacy Office in order to integrate EA, Security and Privacy goals to create a solid approach to all three needs.
Emphasizing the correlation between enterprise architecture, security and privacy, Ross mentioned, “the future of information security depends on the success of enterprise architecture”, with Bernard adding, “One of the most important things EA can contribute to an agency is an effective set of security solutions”.
Ross confirmed that guidance document SP800-60 will be updated with a definitive set of controls on Privacy and SP800-122 is scheduled to be released by Dec 31, 2008 - focusing on Personally Identifiable Information and the confidentiality aspect of privacy.
