The hypnosis weight loss CD, Easiest Weight Loss for Lesbians, is created Mar Robbart, a San Diego certified hypnotherapist and lesbian who has herself had weight issues prior to addressing them with hypnotherapy.

“Hypnosis is most successful when it’s tailored to an individual,” says Robbart, creator of the Invent Your Mind hypnosis CD. “In this case we’re tailoring the hypnosis to a group of people who have a lot in common.”

While most weight loss hypnosis CDs are meant for a general audience, this CD is very specific.  

“One of the things that make hypnosis effective is how it relates specifically to you and your life,” says Robbart.  “This CD explores those commonalities.”

While listening to the CD, women are reminded that sexual feelings are part of being alive as an adult.  The message is as weight goes down, libido increases and sexual activity becomes more pleasurable. 

“The message is that the listener will feel more attractive by losing weight and notice that whomever she finds attractive is finding her much more attractive,” says Robbart.

Robbart says she deliberately chose a woman to voice the CD. 

“I felt that lesbian women would want to hear these types of messages from another woman.”

Robbart produced another hypnosis weight loss CD, Easiest Weight Loss for Women, for women in general.  The voice on that CD is a man.

Several studies show that lesbians are more likely than their heterosexual counterparts to be overweight or obese.

The most recent, one conducted in 2007 by Boston University School of Public Health researchers, shows lesbians are twice as likely as heterosexual women to be overweight or obese.

Robbart says there is a need for an hypnosis CD with messages tailored to lesbians.

“If you’re a lesbian who craves to be in control of her life and weight, then this CD was created for you,” says Robbart.

With all couples, Robbart says, there is a tendency for partners to contribute to each other’s weight problem. 

“Lesbian couples might find the CDs useful for both partners,” says Robbart.

While it costs $100-$125 for a private hypnosis session, the CD costs just $23 dollars.
