Dr. Leola Washington is an established Professor and Parish Nurse who continues to provide exceptional care and education with the Health Care Ministry and Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Featuring over four decades of experience in her field, she has a special expertise in community health, running a faith based nursing program, health education, case management, hospice care, care planning, preventative care, intensive care nursing, research for strokes, AIDS, addiction, and post-anesthesia care.
Dr. Washington’s acclaimed career in nursing began in 1976, when she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland. Thereafter, she earned her Doctor of Ministry Degree and PhD in Pastoral Counseling from Saint Mary’s Seminary and University.
Dr. Washington remains a distinguished member of the American Nurses Association and the Maryland Nurses Association. For her hard work and dedication, she is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, and was presented with Presidential Honors for her work with pediatric AIDS. Dr. Washington has dedicated her life to enhancing her patients’ quality of life, and to providing the highest standard of quality education to her students. She attributes her success to her faith in God, her love for her work and serving others, and to the support of her parents and mentors. In her free time, Dr. Washington runs a summer camp for healthcare and technology training called the Washington Summer Fun Academy to train youth counselors and educate potential healthcare workers.
