Leading Registered Nurse in Chesterfield, Missouri, Gene L. Pozniakoff, RN, will be Featured in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

The International Nurses Association is pleased to welcome Gene L. Pozniakoff, RN, to their prestigious organization with his upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare. Gene L. Pozniakoff is a Registered Nurse and Physician Patient Liaison currently on staff at Midwest Heart Rhythm in Chesterfield, Missouri. With over 20 years of experience, he is a specialist cardiac electrophysiology nurse.

Gene L. Pozniakoff obtained his Associate’s Degree in Nursing from the St. Louis Community College at Meramec in Kirkwood, Missouri in 1997. Gene was his Nursing Class Valedictorian. After graduation and passing his Missouri State Boards, he entered the Critical Care Fellowship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center. His two year commitment to Critical Care Education gave Gene an in depth understanding of critically ill patients, with time spent with trauma services, burn unit and heart bypass patients.  He is additionally certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, along with being a certified Trauma Nursing Core Course Provider.

Gene helped initiate the CVR / Heart Surgery Center at Des Peres Hospital and worked directly with physicians, nurses and staff in the CVR / ICU. Gene was staff preceptor at Des Peres. Eventually, he entered the Cardiac Cath Lab at Des Peres, learning the ins and out of Cardiac Cath procedures including Cardiac Cath, PCI, Hemodynamics, Phrephreal intervention and eventually found an interest in electrophysiology. At first learning about Pacemakers and their role in patient care, and then moved on to learn about Defibrillators (ICD’s), Arrhythmia and EP Studies and Ablation procedures.

Gene was the staff preceptor and Charge Nurse for Des Peres EP Lab. He was able to work with a number of outstanding EP physicians, technicians and nurses. Gene attended many education programs including Order & Disorder, Medtronic EP for Nurses, and Heart Rhythm Society annual programs and classes. These helped in his understanding of the complexities of arrhythmia including Atrial Flutter, Atrial Fibrillation, SVT and VT.

Gene advises and educates patients on the nature of arrhythmia, and works alongside Dr. Carey Fredman at St. Luke’s Hospital, Mercy St. Louis Hospital, Missouri Baptist Hospital and Des Peres Hospital. Alongside his work as a Physician Patient Liaison, he is also a EP Procedure and Coding Specialist. When not assisting patients, Gene enjoys traveling, playing golf and listening to blues music.
