Dr. Brainard’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1961, when he graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Upon earning his Medical Degree, he completed an internship at Fitzsimons General Army Hospital, before undertaking his residency training at the Ireland Army Hospital and at the Letterman General Army Hospital. Thereafter, he served his fellowship training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Dr. Brainard is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Brainard remains a distinguished member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arizona Sports Medicine Society, the Arizona Medical Association, and the Maricopa County Medical Society. He specializes in achilles tendinitis, chronic neck, back and pelvic pain, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, scoliosis and spine disorders and deformities. Moreover, he treats a comprehensive range of sports injuries including fractures and dislocations. Dr. Brainard attributes his success to treating his patients like members of his own family, and when he is not working he takes care of his wife suffering from Alzheimer’s.
