The Bob Silah Memorial Golf Tournament benefitting Operation Helping Hand will take place on Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Bay Palms Golf Course, located at MacDill AFB.
The tournament’s purpose is to raise funds to support U.S. military active duty personnel injured in Iraq and Afghanistan and who are being cared for in Tampa, Florida at the James A. Haley VA Hospital and their families. It is a special initiative of the Tampa Chapter of Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), and is operated by military retired officers and volunteers.
“We owe our freedom to the men and women of the military, and it is our duty and honor to provide for them in their times of need,” says Operation Helping Hand Chairman, LTC Jim Griffin (Ret). “This tournament helps us raise the funds to provide for the families of our wounded during their stay in Tampa Bay.”
The tournament is a four-person scramble, with a putting contest, a “longest drive” contest and “closest to pin” chances. Lunch is provided, and an awards dinner with prizes and drawings concludes the event.
