Dr. Sanjay Adhia attended the M.S. Ramaiah Medical College in Bengaluru, India, where he gained his Medical Degree in 2003. After moving to the United States, he completed an internship at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. Dr. Adhia followed this with a residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and then completed a Forensic Psychiatry fellowship at the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine in Portland.
Dr. Adhia is a highly experienced psychiatrist, but he has become particularly known for his expertise as a forensic psychiatrist. He is dual board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and conditions treated by him include Attention Deficit Disorder, depressive disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and bipolar disorder. He is also a noted expert witness with experience in both criminal and civil cases, examining medical records and conducting Independent Medical Examinations for the court. Alongside his practice, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch. When he is not working, Dr. Adhia enjoys tennis and playing the bass.
