Dr. Recker attended Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating with his Medical Degree in 1963. Thereafter, he completed an internship at Wilford Hall USAF Hospital, before undertaking his residency and then fellowship at Creighton University School of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and has earned the coveted titles of Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, and Master of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Recker is nationally renowned for his expertise in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, and is also noted as an expert on osteoporosis and postmenopausal osteoporosis. He is the Director of the Osteoporosis Research Center, and has been an Associate Editor of the journal, BONE, and has also had many articles published in his field. Dr. Recker attributes his success to his research skills, as well as his desire to make a difference, and when he is not working he enjoys skiing and sailing.
