We all start the new year with the best intentions to improve ourselves mentally, physically, and spiritually. Yet, most will resume their old ways by the second week of February.  Let’s face it, change is hard.  If it were easy, then everyone would do it.  It takes a great desire to make a change in your life, especially when it comes to adopting a fit and healthy lifestyle.

How many years have you had the goal to lose weight, start working out or start eating healthier? You can talk about wanting change, but change will not happen unless you’ve take a few crucial steps that will ultimately help you keep your New Year’s resolution. The good news is that change is possible.

The first step is all mental. You need to decide you are ready and fed up with your current lifestyle. You need to believe you can change and that you will succeed. Step one is the easiest, and you will need to follow that with a plan of action. How will you start? It can be simply by cutting out or adding in one thing at a time. For example, first plan to stop drinking soda and start walking 15 minutes a day. Every Monday, choose to cut out another negative that deters you from reaching your goal and replace it with one positive item that will lead you towards your goal. The trick is to ease into it instead of making one drastic lifestyle change that can overwhelm you.

Find a source of accountability to help you. That could be working out with a friend, having a meal plan partner, getting a fitness device monitor, joining a gym or hiring a personal trainer. These steps will not only improve your accountability but also provide necessary motivation to make it through the difficult patches. Once you are in the habit of eating healthier and increasing your activity level decide to challenge yourself. That can be a new fitness routine; something to push you to the next level.

Samantha Taylor Fitness will host a 6-Week Body Transformation Challenge that will kick off Feb. 5th at all four studio locations: Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel, Carrollwood and Westchase. The goal is to motivate women to kick start an exercise and healthy eating plan, while providing immediate results in weight and inches lost during a short time frame. There were many women that participated in the Fall 2017 challenge attending 30-minute workout sessions and following the meal plan provided. Those participants lost a combined total of 1,252 pounds with each participant losing anywhere from 9 – 28 pounds!
