Esteemed Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Debra Marie Gilbertson, NNP will be Highlighted in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

The International Nurses Association is pleased to welcome Debra Marie Gilbertson, NNP to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders of Healthcare. Debra Marie Gilbertson is an established Neonatal Nurse Practitioner currently serving patients within St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she is also affiliated with Ascension Wisconsin and West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, Louisiana. She served as a Nursing Assistant for four years, as a LPN for four years, and as a RN for 35 years and has extensive experience in the nursing field. Debra has a special expertise in neonatology.

Debra’s acclaimed career in nursing began in 1982, when she graduated with her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Milwaukee Area Technical College. She remained within the same institution to complete her Nursing Degree in 1986. An advocate for continuing education, she attended the University of Phoenix and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1989, before obtaining her Master of Science Degree in Nursing in 1997 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. An inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Debra remains a distinguished member of the Wisconsin Association of Perinatal Care and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

In her role as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner on a level 2 and 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Debra assess, stabilizes and manages care of compromised newborns in acute and sub-acute, hospital settings as an advanced practice nurse. She has also initiated and collaborated in research, developing protocols for data collection by her team members. Debra has dedicated her life to providing the highest standard of quality and compassionate care to her patients, and is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. She attributes her success to the support of her parents, who stood behind her, and to her husband, who is also a nurse and shares her desire to improve the lives of others. In her free time, Debra enjoys reading and walking.
