Esther M. Cohen, PA-C, Dermatology Physician Assistant, has been named a 2017 Top Doctor/ Physician Assistant in Maryland. Esther M. Cohen is an highly experienced and respected physician assistant who has fulfilled the role for more than four decades. Her long and successful career in medicine began in 1974 where she received her education from Johns Hopkins University School of Health Sciences in Maryland, becoming a Certified Physician Assistant. She was among the first to graduate from the Physician Assistant program in the state of Maryland and one of the very first physician assistants in the country to specialize in dermatology, since 1980. In 2013, she was honored and named Physician Assistant of the Year, by the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants. She was recognized by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants in 2015, as one of 223 physicians assistants nationally consistently certified for 40 years.
Esther is renowned across Maryland and beyond as an expert in dermatology, and alongside Dr. Paul Rusonis in Ellicott City, Maryland, she now provides a wide range of adult and pediatric dermatology treatments, as well as dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic procedures. Conditions treated by her include acne, keratosis, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, warts, rosacea, alopecia, fungal infections and skin cancer.
Esther is a founding member of the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants and the Maryland Association of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She is the President of the Maryland Association of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She remains an active member of many other professional organizations including the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Her dedication and commitment to her work makes Esther M. Cohen a very deserving winner of a 2017 Top Doctor/Physician Assistant Award.
