Exceptional Nephrologist and Professor of Renal Medicine, Liz Lightstone, PhD, MRCP will be Exhibited in The Leading Physicians of the World

The International Association of HealthCare Professionals is pleased to welcome Professor. Liz Lightstone, PhD, FRCP to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in The Leading Physicians of the World. She is a highly trained and qualified nephrologist and Professor of Renal Medicine with a vast expertise in all facets of her work, especially lupus nephritis and pregnancy in women with kidney disease. Featuring over three decades of experience in her field, Prof Lightstone currently works in the Renal Section in the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London and in the Renal and Transplant Centre at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust based at the Hammersmith Hospital in London.

Prof Lighstone’s career in medicine began in 1983 when she graduated from the King’s College Hospital Medical School, University of London, having done her preclinical studies at Cambridge University.  After general medical training in key London hospitals, she started her renal training at the Hammersmith Hospital. During that training she won funding from the Medical Research Council to gain a PhD in Immunology in 1993 which was followed by a post doctoral Clinician Scientist Fellowship during which she also completed her training in renal and general medicine.  She was appointed as a clinical academic in 1995, and promoted to full professor in 2014.  She is a professional member of several national and international societies including the UK Renal Association,  The International Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Nephrology.   Prof Lightstone interest in improving the outcomes for her patients underpins her research and wider clinical roles.  She has published extensively, not only original research but also national and international guidelines for the management of lupus nephritis and renal disease in pregnancy.  She established and was the first National Director of the National Pregnancy and Kidney Disease Rare Disease Group.  When she is not working, Prof Lightstone spends time with her family (her husband is a family physician and her children are budding lawyers!) and enjoys travelling and art.
