Prominent Psychiatrist, Urzula H. Kotlow, MD will be Noted in The Leading Physicians of the World

Kotlow, MD to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in The Leading Physicians of the World. Dr. Urzula H. Kotlow is an established Psychiatrist currently serving patients as the Medical Director within the Arizona’s Children Association in Phoenix. Featuring two decades of experience in her field, she has a special expertise in both inpatients and outpatient psychiatry.

Dr. Kotlow was educated at Middlebury College and Duke University, and completed additional training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Thereafter, she served her Pediatric internship at Brown University and General Psychiatry residency at Yale University. Pursuing advanced training, she then undertook her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Kotlow is dual board certified in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, remains a distinguished member of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Phoenix Chapter, and served as President of the statewide Arizona Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Chapter.

For her wealth of experience and contributions to her field, Dr. Kotlow is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including an Achievement Medal for Outstanding Service and an Outstanding Unit Citation Award during her active duty as a United States Public Health Service  officer. In her role, she provided mental health services in the Indian Health Service for the White Mountain Apache and Hopi Reservations during the Rodeo-Chediski Fire. Moreover, Dr. Kotlow worked with attorney George Hesse to create a new law for the White Mountain Apache Reservation so that tribal members who are  who are posing a danger to self and others or who are gravely disabled could be petitioned for an involuntary commitment so as to ensure public safety on the reservation.

Dr. Kotlow attributes her success to her passion for people, her strong commitment to mental health, and her drive to make a difference in others’ lives. When she is not assisting patients, she enjoys scuba diving, traveling, photography, and swimming.
