The International Nurses Association is pleased to welcome Cheryl Lynn Chesnut, FNP-C, DOT-ME to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare. Cheryl Lynn Chesnut is an established Family Nurse Practitioner and DOT Medical Examiner currently maintaining an independent practice through Medcor in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Featuring over three decades of experience in her field, she has a special expertise in family practice and occupational health. Moreover, Cheryl does a lot of teaching on wellness, nutrition, diabetes, asthma, weight loss and control, as well as viruses versus bacterial infections.
Cheryl’s acclaimed career in nursing began in 1987 when she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Northern Colorado. An advocate for continuing education, she obtained her Master of Science Degree in Nursing in 1996 within the same educational venue, where she ultimately specialized as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1998. She also graduated from the University of Colorado Health Science Center, Denver with a Master’s as a Certified Nurse Midwife, holds additional certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Adult Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications as well as Trauma certifications. She is also a DOT Medical Examiner.
An inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Who’s Who in Rural Nursing, Cheryl remains a distinguished member of the Colorado Nurses Association, the New Mexico Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. For her hard work and dedication, she is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including being named Outstanding Registered Nurse for 5 years in Colorado and Outstanding Preceptor in Colorado, and receiving a Catch Me Award from Presbyterian Hospital. Cheryl attributes her success to growing up in a small town with one doctor, and when she is not working she enjoys mission work, reading, teaching, and music.
