Ross is an established Advanced Foregut and HPB Surgeon currently serving patients within Florida Hospital Tampa. Presently, she is the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Director of Surgical Endoscopy, Director of Advanced GI & HPB Fellowship Program, Founder & Director of the Florida Hospital Tampa Women in Surgery Initiative and the Program Director/Chair of the 2009 2018 Annual International Women in Surgery Career Symposium. Dr. Ross features over nine years of experience in her field and has a special expertise in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Sharona Ross was born and raised in the State of Israel. After her two years of military service in the Israel Defense Forces, she moved to the United States, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from the American University in Washington, DC and later Alpha Omega Alpha from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. Thereafter, Dr. Ross completed her General Surgery residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Department of General Surgery and was later awarded the prestigious HPB/Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship at USF/Tampa General Hospital. Pursuing advanced medical training, she went on to complete an additional fellowship in Endoscopic Gastroenterology at the Division of Digestive Disorders & Nutrition, Department of Medicine University of South Florida.

Dr. Ross remains a distinguished member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the Southeastern Surgical Congress, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Florida Medical Association. She was one of the first surgeons in the United States to undertake Laparo-Endoscopic Single Site (LESS) surgery, and continues to develop new, innovative techniques and instrumentation to improve its safety and application. Moreover, Dr. Ross is one of the few surgeons in the United States to offer patients robotic complex abdominal operations for esophageal, stomach, small bowel, pancreatic, liver, and gallbladder cancers. She attributes her success to the support of her family, her focus, her mentors, and being goal oriented. When she is not assisting patients, Dr. Ross enjoys Harley riding, clay shooting, playing golf, and horseback riding.
