Cathi J. Sitzman, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist with McDermott-Sitzman Associates, P.C., has been named a 2017 Top Doctor in Washington, D.C., in the field of Psychology. She is a renowned psychotherapist in the District of Columbia metropolitan area as a specialist for the treatment of anxiety, phobias, PTSD and dissociative disorders. Further, Dr. Sitzman is known for her patience and compassion in the treatment of patients with reactive and acute depressive disorders.
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr. Sitzman has worked with students and faculty members of the George Washington University and its Counseling Center. She also has been an active volunteer for Planned Parenthood, the DC Rape Crisis Center, the Women’s National Democratic Club (where she served as Chair of the Healthcare Task Force), and other organizations devoted to healthcare and healthcare policy.
Dr. Sitzman was a founding member of APA’s Trauma Division, and is a member of the DCPA, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and Psychologists for Social Responsibility.
