Yunique Desire-Brisard is an established Doctor of Nursing Practice currently serving patients at the Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center as well as within her own private practice located in Brooklyn, New York. Featuring over two decades of experience in nursing, she specialized in primary care, peri-operative, emergency services, public health nursing, and legal consulting. As a Type II Diabetes specialist, she has recently published an article regarding “The Impact of an Inter-Professional Protocol in Reducing The
Incidence of Type II Diabetes Among African Americans and Hispanic Minorities at Risk: An Evidence Based Practice Project, 2016.” Dr. Desire-Brisard has dedicated her life and career to providing superior quality care and services for humanity.
Dr. Desire-Brisard’s career in nursing began when she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the City University of New York. An advocate for continuing education, she obtained her Master of Science Degree in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration from Molloy College. She then attended Pace University, earning her Professional Nursing Educator in Academic and Professional Settings certification, followed by her Legal Nurse Consultant certification from Long Island University. Thereafter, Dr. Desire-Brisard gained her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
In addition to her clinical nursing experience, Dr. Desire-Brisard was on faculty as an Adjunct Professor of the Undergraduate Nursing Program at Kingsborough Community College, as well as an Adjunct Professor of the Graduate Nursing Program at Molloy College. She is a distinguished member of the American Nurses Association, The Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State, American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, the National Association of Professional Women, Omega Chi Phi of Chi Eta Phi, and is an inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. Desire-Brisard is fluent in four languages, allowing her to serve a diverse range of patients in her practice.
