Dr. Marco T. Bologna is a highly experienced surgeon, having been in practice for a decade. His career in medicine began in 1995, when he graduated from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. After moving to the United States, he completed residencies at the Metropolitan Group of Hospitals/University of Illinois Affiliated program at Chicago.. Thereafter, Dr. Bologna undertook his fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by his Aortic Surgery and Complex Aortic Surgery fellowship at the University of Florida.
Dr. Bologna is double board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Conditions treated by him include but are not limited to coronary artery disease, valvular disease, aortic aneurysm and dissections, atrial fibrillation. Expert procedures undertaken by him include, coronary artery bypass grafting, valves repair and replacement, TAVR, surgery for aortic aneurysm, TEVAR and maze procedure, among others.
Dr. Bologna has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is also an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Florida Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. In 2012, he was awarded a Cardiac Surgeon Award of Excellence by the American Board of Cardiology, and alongside his practice he serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida International University. His expertise in his field makes Dr. Marco T. Bologna a very deserving winner of a 2017 Top Doctor Award.
