Dr. Kyriaki FitzGerald is a respected and experienced psychologist. Her career in psychology began after she gained her Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Boston University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in Massachusetts, with a course emphasis on Pastoral Theology and Psychology. Prior to this, Dr. FitzGerald had gained a Master of Divinity Degree from the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts and pursued graduate studies in theology and slavic church studies from the School of Theology of the University, Thessaloniki, Greece.
Dr. FitzGerald has become known across Massachusetts and beyond for expertise as a psychologist, where she is particularly respected for her contributions to the areas of spirituality and pastoral psychotherapy. Utilizing the insights from the best practices associated with clinical psychology, depth psychotherapy, and the ancient spiritual wisdom of the Christian East, especially, Dr. FitzGerald focuses much of her attention on the impact of trauma, addictions and the “attachments” for the cultivation of healthy relationships with the self, other, creation (i.e. the environment) and God (or “higher power”) for the human person. In this role, she provides private supervision and consultation, as well as offers individual, group and family counseling.
Alongside her role as a skilled psychotherapist and psychologist, Dr. FitzGerald also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Theology at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts. Internationally respected as an authority on the history and theology of women in ministry in the Eastern Church, she also is acclaimed for her expertise in facilitating therapeutic dimensions of psychology and theology in a manner that promotes “authentic” (i.e. healthy) relationships. She is the co-founder and Executive Director of Saint Catherine’s Vision, a non-profit organization comprised of women theologians, ordained and lay servant-leaders engaging theological, pastoral and spiritual issues that affect the contemporary church.
