Marcelle M. Morcos, MD, FACS, FAAO, Chair of Ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center has been named a 2017 Top Doctor in East Meadow, New York. Dr. Marcelle M. Morcos is a highly experienced ophthalmologist, who has been in practice for more than 35 years. Her long and successful medical career began in 1969, when she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cairo in Egypt. After moving to the United States, she completed a residency at the Nassau University Medical Center Ophthalmology program. Soon after her graduation, she was appointed as an attending in the surgery department. In 1994, she was appointed as the director of the ophthalmology clinic, and in 2001 she became the Chief of the division of Ophthalmology. She helped establish the first ophthalmology department at Nassau University Medical Center in 2007, and was appointed as the first Chair of the department.
She was one of a handful Chairwomen in Ophthalmology in the United States at that time. Throughout her career, Dr. Morcos has mentored and trained over 140 residents, many of which have become leaders in the field. Dr. Morcos is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and with her wealth of experience she diagnoses and manages a wide range of conditions for patients of all ages. Conditions managed by her include diseases of the cornea, the conjunctiva, the eyelids, glaucoma and cataracts. She has performed and taught thousands of surgeries. Dr. Morcos has mentored residents in plenty of research projects and have made significant contributions to the field of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Morcos earned the coveted titles of Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Her expertise and excellent academic track-record makes Dr. Marcelle M. Morcos a very worthy winner of a 2017 Top Doctor Award.
