WeeTect, a premier designer and manufacturer of face protection shields, has developed a new anti-fog solution based on hydrophilic ingredients. The new anti-fog technology was unveiled today after years of R&D in the WeeTect’s laboratory in Foshan.
This is an improvement of a research that was conducted by Professor Gaétan Laroche in L’Universite Laval in 2012. The research was based on the use of polyvinyl alcohol as a hydrophilic compound.
“We are aware of the devastating effects of fog on medical accessories such as lenses and face shield protection devices, with OSHA estimating over 9% of accidents in industries are due to fogging surfaces,” said Taylors Lei, WeeTect Product Manager. “This is why we thought it was wise to invest in an ecofriendly and effective anti-fog solution, to ensure workers focus on the real job at hand instead worrying about fogging face protection shields.”
How WeeTect Anti-fog Works
WeeTect anti-fog solution is coated on the inside section of the face protection shield where it eliminates fogging through molecular interaction. A layer of hydrophilic ingredients reduces water droplets (fog) to a thin transparent water film.
The film spreads uniformly into a thin layer on the surface and it does not alter the optical properties of the face shield.
With the help of high-tech accessories in the Foshan Laboratory, WeeTect uses a hydrophilic anti-fog solution with high affinity for water. It alters the molecular structure of water spontaneously making the process unnoticeable.
There are no chemical reactions involved, thus; WeeTect considers this anti-fog solution for lenses and face shields eco-friendly.
Quality Testing
The WeeTect anti-fog coating has passed all the critical tests, thus a perfect choice for adverse weather conditions in medical laboratories or theatre rooms. All tests are conducted as per the international standards:
- ASTM D 1003 for haze test
- ECE 22.05/ECE 324 to determine fog free time
- Freezing test
