U.S. Department of Labor, Himanshu Bhatia voluntarily settle wage and hour lawsuit

Even though the claims were never true, Himanshu Bhatia says it made financial sense to settle rather than continue litigation

Despite spending months claiming Himanshu Bhatia mistreated her live-in cook—which Mrs. Bhatia vehemently denied from the get-go and continues to deny—the U.S. Department of Labor agreed to settle its lawsuit against her out of court without any admission of guilt to any of its claims.

The Department also waived finding of facts and conclusions of law.

“Mrs. Bhatia reached an agreement to resolve the complaint brought by the Department of Labor regarding an employee,” the Bhatia family said in a statement. “Mrs. Bhatia firmly denied all of the claims made by the Department regarding the employee.”

The family says it made financial sense to settle the case rather than spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal bills fighting the claims made by their former live-in cook.

“The lawsuit was resolved for less than the cost of continuing to litigate the case and will allow Mrs. Bhatia to focus on her business and community development affairs.”

Mrs. Bhatia is founder of Rose International, a leading minority and woman-owned provider of workforce and technology services. The claims were related to a private matter.
