She is an established Ophthalmologist with extensive expertise in all facets of her work, especially comprehensive eye care, cataract surgery, laser surgery, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Stelzner has been in practice for nearly 25 years and is currently serving patients as Chief Physician within Santa Monica Eye Medical Group in Santa Monica, California. She is also affiliated with St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, Santa Monica Surgery Center, and the Laser Eye Associates in Beverly Hills.
Prior to her career in medicine, Dr. Stelzner obtained her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and graduate degree in cellular and molecular biology at the University of California, Los Angeles. She then gained her medical degree at Boston University, before completing her Ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington. Dr. Stelzner went on to undertake her research fellowship at The National Institutes of Health for the Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and her executive management training at the Yale School of Management.
Dr. Stelzner is board certified in Ophthalmology, and has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. To keep up to date with the latest advances in her field, she maintains a professional membership with the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, and the American Society of Anti Aging. For her wealth of experience and knowledge, she is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, and is a sought after speaker for national ophthalmology conventions around the world.
In addition to serving in private practice, Dr. Stelzner is Chief of Ophthalmology at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopedic Hospital, Director of Eye Care at the Greater Los Angeles Veteran’s Hospital, and Assistant Clinical Professor at David Geffen School of Medicine/Jules Stein Institute. Twice a year, Dr. Stelzner is one of the teaching faculty for the cataract surgery courses for ophthalmology residents from UCLA, USC, UCI, UCSD, and Loma Linda. She attributes her success to her attention to detail and perseverance, as well as staying on the cutting edge of treatment. When she is not assisting patients, Dr. Stelzner enjoys keeping active with biking, running, and yoga.
