Dr. Sonia C. Thomas has been in practice for more than 12 years and is currently serving patients as Medical Director within the Inova Kellar Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
Dr. Thomas attended Goa Medical College in India, where she graduated with her Medical Degree. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed her Psychiatry residency at Howard University Hospital, where she was named Chief Resident, before undertaking her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Thomas is board certified in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Furthermore, she is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
In her role as Medical Director, Dr. Thomas partners with the Senior Director to provide clinical supervision, instruction, and direction to the therapists and physician team throughout the organization. To keep up to date with the latest advances and developments in her field, Dr. Thomas maintains a professional membership with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She attributes her success to her passion for the field, and enjoys reading her free time.
