At the 44th Annual Gift of Gold gala, Hillel Academy of Tampa will honor three families that created a “Legacy of Light” by paving the way for Tampa Bay’s only Jewish day school to blossom into the success that it is today.
Hillel was founded in 1970 at Congregation Rodeph Shalom in South Tampa. But it quickly outgrew its space and moved to a sprawling campus on Fletcher Ave. in North Tampa where it is now.
“Our goal is to provide not only the best Jewish education, but the greatest secular education to students,” says Stanford Solomon, president of Hillel Academy’s Board of Trustees.”Our students graduate to the finest area high schools and attend some of the top universities. That’s a credit to our awesome teachers, administrators and parents. I hope and trust that our founding families are proud of what Hillel has grown to become.”
The gala, to be held March 18 at 8pm at the brand new Bryan Glazer family JCC in South Tampa, will honor Larry Solomon z”l, who directed Fletcher Campus purchase; Jeff Wuliger z”l., who chaired the Fletcher Campus capital campaign; and Paul Roberg and Susan Levine, who created the Maurice Levine Library.
“Those who founded Hillel Academy are with us in spirit every day as we continue their legacy of excellence in education with Jewish values,” said Gordon Rode, interim head of school at Hillel Academy.
The fundraising event will begin with a special and memorable Havdalah experience, and will include an elegant dinner, large silent auction with mobile bidding, and music/dancing by DJ Staar Entertainment.
Tickets, for $75 per person, are still available. Cocktail attire and Kosher dietary laws will be observed.
