Popkin is a highly trained pediatrician and consultant in pediatric medicine with a vast expertise in all facets of his work, especially cleft lip and palate. Dr. Popkin has been in practice for more than 30 years and is currently serving patients within Consulting Pediatrics Group in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Popkin is a Pediatric Consultant and Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria.
Dr. Popkin graduated with his Medical Degree and Master of Surgery Degree in 1974 from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Quebec. He subsequently completed his Pediatric residency within the same educational venue. Dr. Popkin has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Fellow of the Canadian Pediatric Society, and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Popkin currently acts as Clinical Director of the Cleft Lip and Palate Program at Island Health British Columbia and Queen Alexandria Center for Children’s Health. In addition, he is the Founding Director of the Vancouver Island Cleft Lip and Palate Program, and serves as the Local Principal Investigator for the TRIGR Project, an international trial to study breast feeding and diabetes onset in genetically at risk children. To keep up to date with the latest advances and developments in his field, Dr. Popkin maintains professional memberships with the British Columbia Pediatric Society and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. With his wealth of experience and knowledge, Dr. Popkin has published many works. In his free time, Dr. Popkin enjoys sailing.
