Dr. Powell attended Columbia University School of Dentistry and Oral Surgery, where he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1996. He subsequently completed his three year post graduate residency in Pediatric Dentistry while earning his Master’s Degree in Clinical Dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Powell is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and holds the title of Diplomate, the highest accreditation in the specialty, and maintains professional memberships with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Society of Dental Anesthesia, and the Better Business Bureau.
Dr. Powell is the Atlanta Dental Coordinator for the charitable organization Team Smile and the Atlanta Falcons. Partnering with the Atlanta Falcons, Team Smile gathers local dentists and hygienists as they provide free dental care to underprivileged children.Dr. Powell also served as the Atlanta representative for Crest, Procter and Gamble for Children’s Dental Awareness Month, speaking to inner city children, and appeared on local television channels to promote pediatric dental health. Dr. Powell attributes his success to his love for working with children, and when he is not assisting his patients, he enjoys golfing, traveling, hiking, art, and spending time with his son.
