Dr. Bernard Luby is a highly trained Gynecologist and Urogynecologist with extensive expertise in all facets of his work, especially female pelvic reconstructive surgery and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. He is also an expert in robotic surgery where he has performed over 700 cases. Dr. Luby has been in practice for over 30 years and is currently serving patients within his private clinical practice in South Charleston, West Virginia. Dr. Luby offers cutting edge technology and expert evaluation and is dedicated to providing women’s healthcare quality and patient safety. He is affiliated with both Thomas Memorial Hospital, where he was Chairman of the Department of Surgery from 1996-1998 and Charleston Area Medical Center.
Dr. Luby grew up in Charleston, West Virginia and attended West Virginia University School of Medicine where he graduated with honors in 1980. Following his graduation, he completed his residency at the West Virginia University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Charleston Area Medical Center where he won several awards. He did a Galloway Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and was a gynecological oncology fellow at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 1985. He has authored several peer reviewed papers and presented surgical videos in minimally invasive gynecology. In 1989, he participated in the World Congress of Gynecologic Endoscopy and was recognized as a leader in contact YAG laser laparoscopy. In 1996 he was certified in advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy by the Accreditation Counsel in Gynecologic Endoscopy. Since 1986, he has been a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Luby is double-board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and the sub-specialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. To keep up to date with the latest advances in his challenging field, Dr. Luby maintains a professional membership in several organizations including the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Urogynecologic Society, and the International Urogynecological Association.
He attributes his success to his extensive training, his experience, and utilizing cutting edge surgical techniques which has translated into outstanding results for his patients. When he is not working in his busy clinical practice, Dr. Luby enjoys world traveling and participating in Gynecological and Urogynecological meetings.
