Wilkerson is a Licensed Practical Nurse with 16 years of experience in his field and an extensive expertise in all facets of nursing, especially geriatric nursing, dementia care, and as an emergency paramedic. James is currently serving patients as a Supervisor within a private dementia care facility in Knoxville, Tennessee. Having worked in many fields of healthcare, James finds dementia care to be the most rewarding patient care he has ever done.
James V. Wilkerson graduated with his Associate of Applied Science Degree as a Paramedic in 1992 from Polk Community College. He then decided to pursue nursing, and completed the Licensed Practical Nurse program in 2001 from the Tennessee Technological University, while working as a full time paramedic. He holds additional certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and keeps up to date with the latest advances in his challenging field by maintaining a professional membership with the American Nurses Association and the National Association Emergency Medical Technicians. James attributes his success to his hard work, looking beyond the present, and the happiness of some of his dementia residents when they see him.
